The history of MAYFLOWER

The history of MAYFLOWER has many starting points. In 1997, Gregor Streng and Johann-Peter Hartmann founded Mayflower Marketing GbR in Munich. Björn Schotte, then known as PHP-Wizard, has been active in the PHP area since 1998.

In 2000, MAYFLOWER and Björn Schotte together founded the project “ThinkPHP”, a merger for supporting the program language PHP in companies.

ThinkPHP has established itself successfully in the PHP area in the last few years and stands for the technical competence of MAYFLOWER.

In 2002, the company was renamed MAYFLOWER GmbH, and 2004 saw the next big step: the many years of close cooperation between all participating partners culminated in a fusion, so that today all four persons are essential components of the company.

Thanks to continuous healthy growth, MAYFLOWER currently employs over 30 persons in the two company locations in Munich and Würzburg.

The people behind MAYFLOWER

Albrecht Günther

The physicist Albrecht Günther has been active for many years as a developer of community and communication solutions. His groupware PHProjekt is very well known and is the most widely used open-source groupware product with ca. 40,000 installations in over 80 countries. At MAYFLOWER, he is responsible for personnel and the further development of PHProjekt.

Johann-Peter Hartmann

Johann-Peter Hartmann became a freelance programmer and software developer even while he was studying. Due to his well-founded, broad knowledge, he is very famous in development circles. As IT advisor and developer, he has supervised many large projects in the area of software development. The PHP expert also contributed to the PHP Manual and regularly publishes technical articles. As technical manager, he sets an indelible stamp on MAYFLOWER products.

Björn Schotte

Björn Schotte has made his name in the industry as chief editor of the PHP Magazine and through his preparation of the International PHP Conferences. Besides his journalist activity, he was always active as a recognized IT consultant and developer. His main competences are in the area of intranet applications and customer portal as well as PHP training courses. At MAYFLOWER, Björn Schotte is responsible for marketing, PR and sales.

Gregor Streng

As co-founder of MAYFLOWER, Gregor Streng specialized early in management and information technology. Over the years, he has supervised various projects in the development of database applications and web portals. As commercial manager of MAYFLOWER, he is also responsible for the financial side of MAYFLOWER’s company management.
